There was just something about Dani Phillips he liked. She expressed her views in such a forthright way; it was refreshing. She was not happy about the possibility of tourists coming in and taking over her town, which came across loud and clear. But her opinion appeared at odds with what the city council seemed to want from him, and he could only hope that didn't cause a problem.
Dani had a job to do, and part of it was to show him around town. She'd already proven she could do it, even if she didn't agree with the council on their views on how to revive their town.
He had a job to do, and that was to decide if he could come up with a campaign to help draw tourists to this town. Potential problem? Not as long as he put a damper on his growing attraction to this feisty city manager. And dampen it he must. The last thing he needed was to fall for Dani Phillips.
What would you do if you were in Thad's shoes?

Probably run screaming for the hills! Just kidding...mostly. :) So loved this series set in my adopted home state of Mississippi. Janet, you always know how to craft such a heartwarming story.
ReplyDeleteSounds like both Thad and Dani have intriguing careers. I wouldn't have a clue how to do either! But then, that's the fun of reading about it. : )
ReplyDeleteAaron, you are so sweet to say that! Thanks for coming by! You know this last story in the series was the very hardest to write because it was after Katrina hit and the small town I used to create Magnolia Bay was pretty much destroyed. I knew how bad the MIssissippi Coast had been hurt and yet this last story wasn't the place to tell it. I still hope to be able to tell that story one day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin! Now that part was fun to write! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Janet,
ReplyDeleteSorry, I tried to post earlier but something must have happened. I recognize your story as one of those wonderful Mississippi books. Loved the way you brought your characters to life in Magnolia Bay.
If I were Thad, I would probably have the sense to fall in love with Dani - LOL
Hey Janet... that's a hard question... not sure what I'd do.
ReplyDeleteLove this series. You were a trooper the year this book needed to go in. The readers got a good read and would never have known you wrote it during the aftermath of Katrina!
Thanks so much for continuing to try to post, Diane and Rhonda! From what I've heard, Blogger has been having problems this week--I'm glad you were able to post in between Blogger's glitches!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you both liked the series!
Janet, I had no idea you wrote this right after Katrina! How difficult that must have been for you. But I very much enjoyed this story. I lived on the coast for a while and I remember when reading this book a familiarity, as if you'd written about some place I knew well. And if the town you based it on was destroyed then you've preserved the memory of something that no longer exists. How amazing is that? Great week of blogs!

Ginger, thank you so much for those kind words! I can't tell you how much they mean to me. This series will always be special to me for so many reasons--as will the people of Mississippi.
ReplyDeleteWow, Janet. No idea what Thad should do, except perhaps give up and fall for Dani! Sounds like a great book.
