QUESTION OF THE DAY: How many of you married your high school sweetheart or know someone who did?

  1. I did! Yep, sure enough. And 3 kids 3 grandkids and almost 37 years later, we are still at it. Praise God for His faithfulness!

  2. My sister married her high school sweetheart. I was a freshman in high school when they started dating, and they were a sophomore and a junior. I remember I didn't like my sister's boyfriend at first and couldn't figure out why she was dating him, and then over time I realized what a great guy he was/is, and now I'm proud to have him as my brother-in-law!

  4. My mom married her high school sweetheart. :) They've been married for 43 years now.

I think that would be so challenging, because there's so much growing up and changing that you do in high school and in your early twenties. To be able to grow and change together, to stay committed and in love when you're morphing and branching out...and to allow the other person to change and grow too. A big challenge.

  5. My middle daughter Rebecca recently became engaged to her high school sweetheart!! They've dated almost seven years, so we already love him like a son. I can still remember the first time Rebecca mentioned him to me--her face lit up. I am so thankful the Lord has brought this young Christian man into our lives!! ~ Patti Jo :)

OK I am not the big romantic here. I am still single and must admit I like it that way the majority of the time. However, I did go to school with a girl who married the guy she started "dating" when she was in the eighth grade. I put dating in quotes as I don't think she could officially date him at that time. They married when she graduated and, yes, they are still married today with a couple of kids. She is actually a fan, too, who always comes to any signings I have back home. By the way, Jeri, thank you so much for your kind comment! That really meant a lot. And I have to say I appreciate so much what you, Erica, and JoAnne are doing through this blog to promote our books. A big THANK YOU is heading your way!!!

  7. I started going with my husband, when we were in the 10th grade. We didn't go anywhere together, because I was only 15, but that's what we called it then. We finally got to date when I turned 16 and married a month before my 19th birthday. 25 and 1/2 years later, we still go lots of places together.

  8. In our graduating class (a long time ago) many of the graduates married fellow graduates. I had to be the oddball, however. My husband and I graduated from high school on the same night, and our diplomas are excactly the same. However, we graduated 1,100 miles apart. He lived in Nebraska, I in West Virginia. It was ten years before we met and eventually married.
