Question of the Day: Meranda is searching for a family treasure, which got me to thinking about the family tree project my sister-in-law has embarked upon. So, the question of the day is: Do you have anyone famous in your family tree?
Yes I do! My maternal great-grandmother was a descendant of Patrick Henry (you know, the "give me liberty or give me death" guy) and somewhere down one of the family trees supposedly lies Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I.

Somewhere in my family tree is a connection to John Paul Jones of "I have not yet begun to fight" fame, and William Wallace (The Braveheart Dude.)
Great question, Erica! In my family tree, we've always said the only famous person was an outlaw--but he was an inlaw so it doesn't count. LOL My husband, however, has a rich history. On his mother's side, there was someone who came to America on either the Nina, Pinta, or Santa Maria, we're not sure which. And he's the direct descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independance. Then, his great-uncle, Gen. Frank Carroll, was instrumental in creating the Air Force as we know it today, and Orville Wright (of Wright Brothers fame) taught him how to fly. I saw a canvas scrap of one of the first airplanes they invented in Uncle Frank's house before he died.

ReplyDeleteYES!!! Actually, there are a couple of very famous people in my family tree. One is Betsy Lee Ross, designer and maker of the first American Flag! And then, also, I have Robert E. Lee of the Confederate Army in my family history!
