Clara and the Cowboy - Erica Vetsch

HS # 900
ISBN # 978-1-60260-770-5
Historical Idaho #1

Alec’s had to prove himself his entire life.

From his abusive, alcoholic father to the townspeople who treat him as if he’s cut from the same cloth to the insecurities that fill his own head, nothing he ever does is good enough. So how can he possibly let himself be in love with the boss’s daughter? And why on earth would she have declared her love for him?

In a fit of pique, Clara did indeed declare her love for Alec. And his flat, decisive rejection—even as his face and hands and lips denied his words—nearly broke her heart. Why can’t Alec look beyond the circumstances of his childhood to see the honorable man he’s become?

When Clara’s life is threatened by dangerous cattle rustlers, will Alec finally discover the answers he’s been seeking? If he lets go of the past, can he trust God for the future?

  1. Just love that book cover. My uncle gave my programming career a leg up. I ran the computer room for his steel distribution company. Many, many years ago. Working for family is hard as you're always on call. Day or night.

  2. Does growing up in a family business count? I would say it was a good learning experience to grow up that way.

Love the cover on this book!

  5. No family business for me, but we have several relatives that own and run their own businesses. I have observed that it's hard for them to get away for vacations and such. But don't you think every wife/mother runs her own family business? And it is a great cover. I think they get better and better.

  6. I agree with Jeri, every wife/mother has her own family business.

    And I, too, LOVE this cover. It's so...swoony! :)

Thank you to Ashley S. at Barbour for creating such a perfect cover for the book.

  8. Yay, a cowboy story! I like it!

I don't know anyone who's worked in a family business but I have worked with members of my family in two different jobs. It was challenging but fun. Not quite the same thing, though :)

  9. Hey Erica,
A great cover for a great story! This is a wonderful beginning to this series. I loved doing the edit. (To make you all jealous, I just finished the third book. You will love all of the stories of the McConnell brothers.) As for the family business, no...but I might call on you for a favor some time... And Jeri, thanks for all you and Erica do on this site. And the editor in me has to pick a little at the question... Of course I like Erica!
